After ~seven years, 166 articles, and careful self-reflection I’ve decided to push the pause button on TQC.
Thank you to everybody who has read, opined, critiqued, and shared our work with others. Constructive criticism was accretive to our process. Your validation was the greatest testament to our success.
TQC was never a job, it was a hobby I worked on in my spare time. I was disheartened by how divisive the political and journalistic landscape had become, especially online. So, despite zero journalistic experience I strove to create a platform that combined views and ideas from across the political spectrum; because while we all wish to live in our own echo chambers at times, that is not where genuine understanding can ever be found.
When I started TQC I was single. Then I got a dog. Then I got a wife. Then I had a kid. Then I had another kid. Now I have a family. I am committed to being an involved dad and husband. As such, I find myself unable to deliver a timely, well-referenced product that you all have come to expect and deserve.
I considered telling ChatGPT what topic I wanted to write about, my points of reference, and how to convey my point(s) of view. I’m not a luddite, but that just seemed too inauthentic.
I hope that at least a few of TQC’s articles spurred you to examine your own biases, reflect and perhaps consider, or at least understand and appreciate, a view that is not always aligned with your own. I think that in so doing, it will make America a more harmonious place to live.
Wishing you all the best and thanks again. Goodbye, for now.
